As many people are concerned about Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), we want to remind you that we’ve been offering eMediation, mediation sessions by video or phone since our inception. Meeting electronically is just as effective as meeting in person in helping couples move forward through the divorce process. Many couples have been choosing this option for convenience or when they are located out-of-state or out-of-country.
Now that we know how COVID-19 is transmitted (respiratory droplets from an infected person’s sneeze or cough), it is important to follow the guidelines laid out by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Getting sick from these droplets requires a close proximity to the infected person or touching a surface that might have a droplet and then touching your mouth, nose or, possibly, eyes.
To do our part in helping slow the spread of the virus, keep people safe with social distancing, and ease concerns, all of our Affordable Mediation sessions are being conducted by phone or video for now. If you already have a divorce mediation session scheduled, we have or will be reaching out to you to offer these alternatives and explain the set up. We use Zoom and Google Hangouts for video meetings. If you don’t have Zoom already downloaded on your device, I suggest doing it in advance to avoid issues logging in. You can download it HERE.
As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
