So, I recently canceled a get-away with friends to a tropical resort. Although the weekend promised to be filled with ocean breezes and cocktails, drama and tension was also brewing as competing personalities vied for control over the days’ activities and arrangements.
At this point in my life, I have no interest in unnecessary or avoidable drama or conflict. Despite disappointment over my non-refundable airfare, I actually felt relief at the prospect of NOT spending the weekend on the beach.
No one enjoys conflict; especially conflict that can last for months or years. So, why would anyone knowingly choose to enter into drawn out conflict when going through their divorce?
I don’t think most people realize just how taxing and time-consuming the traditional litigated divorce can be. It is often a surprise to realize that, $10,000 – $20,000 in attorneys’ fees (each!) and 6 months later, nothing has really been accomplished. So, why subject yourself to such drama?
If you prefer moving towards resolution, peace and just getting on with your lives, please consider the gentler, more amicable divorce mediation process. If you prefer tension, conflict and extended drama, I have an unused ticket to a beach weekend for you.
Call me if you want to discuss how to have a low drama, amicable divorce.
